This is snuff film. This, and many others like it, are readily available on the internet. For me, this is a movie about how cameras and guns are evolving into the same machine.
Indeed, make no mistake, cameras are guns. In spite of one scholar/photographer’s response to this Cultural Farming notion... “Maybe so, but I’d much rather get shot by a camera.” I wonder.
Cameras shoot to kill.
The title of this video is taken from the classic song, My Rifle, My Pony, and Me in the classic western film Rio Bravo. I intended to to use Dean Martin’s crooning as juxtaposition to the cruelty of the video. I couldn’t do it. Using the title made sense. Using Martin’s voice felt wrong. Maybe because I really like the song. I dunno. So, instead, I layered a Nazi Germany “march” overtop. Heavy-handed production demands heavy-handed responses.
