Television must make money.  And one of the very best ways to attract viewer eyeballs is to create fear.  This makes Nature a perfect target for exploitation.  In a mediated world, humans must fear all that is natural.

And so, Nature is presented as no longer gentle - it is conspiring to attack. It wants revenge.  Animals are evil-doers, and we must fight back.  Right? Or are humans doing the exploitation?  Maybe if we buy more TV products we can finally make peace with Nature once again?  Then again, maybe TV is trying to kill us too?
